Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp warm water
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Herbs de Provence or any italian seasoning of your choice
  • 3.5 cups of all purpose flour
  • Garlic Butter Topping:
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • 2. Pour warm water into a mixing bowl and add the yeast.
  • 3. After the yeast has become bubby add in the oil, honey and egg. Mix to combine.
  • 4. Once the wet ingredients are well combined, add in the salt, garlic powder, italian seasoning and flour.
  • 5. Using a dough hook, gently mix together until a soft dough forms. Once the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl, turn out onto a floured surface. The dough will be very soft.
  • 6. Roll dough into a log. Cut into twelve equal pieces.
  • 7. Roll each piece into a rope and then fold into knots. Continue until all pieces have been shaped.
  • 8. Place the knots onto a greased baking sheet and let rise for up to 10 minutes or until oven is preheated.
  • 9. While the knots are rising, make the garlic butter topping.
  • 10. In a small saucepan melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add a pinch of salt and minced garlic. Stir gently until the garlic becomes very fragrant. Remove from heat.
  • 11. Once the oven has come to temperature brush the knots with half of the garlic butter and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • 12. Remove from oven and immediately brush the knots with the remaining garlic butter.
  • Serve warm with your favorite marinara sauce. Enjoy!
